Hawks are runner-up in first tournament of the year
The Hollysprings Hawks AAA team played in their first tournament of the year. The first two games on saturday were heart stopping close games that were both won by the Hawks. The first was an 8 to 6 win where the Hawks surged forth with a home run by Jordan Towler in the first inning with two runners on base for a 3-0 lead. That was quickly match by the opposing team, who then took the lead for the rest of the game until the Hawks finally regained the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the win. The second game was a nail-biting 9 to 7 nine inning win that saw the Hawks defense having trouble closing out the inning by continually letting the other team back in the game after getting two quick outs. Jordan Towler and Justin Christian both hit home-runs in the second game. The pitching was outstanding, but our defense still has some cobwebs to clean up. On Sunday, the Hawks had to play three games. They won the first two games and were playing well in the third game. The score was tied in the fifth inning, but the other team started running away with things in the last inning. Hawks USSSA ranking
